windows 7 drivers for speedtouch 330
« on: December 11, 2009, 09:17:22 pm »

I got the full version of Win7 home premium and i installed the 64bit version and all was running great then i installed my speed touch 330 modem driver ( notes that there is no win7 driver i can find) so used the vista driver now when it installed the modem performed perfictly for 2 hours while i downloaded updates and things then when i restarted my pc it loads to desctop then bang blue screen of death and the pc loads perfectly if i unplug the modem but the second i plug it in and it loads the driver it blue screens every time i have now reinstalled everything but useing the 32 bit win7 disk and it works fine and no problems. Has anyone got any clue as to why the 64bit one seems to dislike the speedtouch 330 driver

The number one problem with a new operating system is having drivers designed specifically for it.  Anything else and you see the result.  If it won't work can you find a modem that will support the new OS?

I'm with twitchy.. What about getting a standalone modem / router? Better security, one less thing you need to find drivers for.

i Have a G wirless modem router tho thats being used in the same room as my media center pc under my tv to give it basic net access tho i probly could take that disable the wirless and then hard wire it in to my main pc which brings me to my next question i curently have the 32 bit version installed and it has been registered will it let me cleen install 64bit and reregister it again? as i have heard of problems regestering in the past with vista after its already been installed or if thats not an option am i able to install the 64 over the 32?

You shouldn't have any trouble installing it again. Worst case, they make you do a phone activation instead of online - that only takes a few minutes.
