Lack of lag really blew us away tonight, hope other folks try this one out. Here's a comparison video with TS vs Vent vs Mumble:

Holy *Crap*, is has text-to-speech for the messages to a channel. This is so awesome. Liking it far more than TS2 or Vent right now.

Yeah, the TTS is awesome.

Administration looks good so far. You can create as many custom ACLs as you want, instead of just having the predefined groups that TS has. And put people in different ACLs (so, for instance, we could have subgame admins like Mojo wants, and give each game admin powers in their channel. And if someone takes on more than one game, we just add each group.. Just like the forums, awesome stuff).

Haven't played with bans yet, but I'd be surprised if they aren't good.

Oh yeah -- When you install the program, it walks you through creating a certificate. It's an SSL cert, just like they use to secure banking websites. When you register on the server it associates that certificate and your username. No passwords, and no one can impersonate you unless they get your cert from your computer. Server also has a cert, so if the connection gets intercepted or something, the client warns you that the cert doesn't match what it had on file before. Very secure. And there's a superadmin function that can't be revoked, stolen or changed from the frontend, only from the server. So if someone did take over somehow, all an admin would need to do is sign out, sign back in on the superadmin account, and boot them. They couldn't fight back.

I'm impressed, so far. Still need to play around with getting a status script, but it's got a lot of potential. And there were plenty of scripts for the old version, plus a few starting for the new (only 10 day old) version, so it'll be set soon enough.

On the mumble server with Broseph now.  When I launched Halo PC, it shows both of our names onscreen in game.  When we talk, it highlights the name of the person talking too!   I assume it would do this many games we play.  I am loving this more and more every day.

Are we going to use mumble?  Nobody is ever on the server.  Everyone seems to still be using TS.

Hmm, not on my frontpage, so I hadn't a clue about it really. Didn't actually realise from this thread that we had a Mumble server.
