Teamspeak and Vent Now Up
« on: November 22, 2009, 08:58:30 pm »

We now have voice servers up and running.  User accounts were all reset - join as guest and an admin can allow your registration.  Tell everyone it's time to come back home.

TS
host prclan.net:8767

Removed Vent info, their licensing doesn't allow anyone but a reseller to run servers for more than 8 clients.

Will do. Thanks to all that has done the hard work.

And vent.. well vent is clearer, but everyone is use to TS, and knows it. I dont think everyone will swap. I have both and TS is just better IMO.

Mojo already registered me for the TS server. And the Vent has a player limit of 8?

Can't up the client limit on Vent. They offer a public 8-slot server or license 1000+ slot servers. For anything in between you need to rent a server from one of the hosting companies.

Would be why I'd like to try mumble / murmur. TS & Vent are both so completely mediocre that the market is dead. No innovation, all junk. Not much money either, I guess. Though if someone came out with a truly better product, maybe so.

Maybe I'll see about getting the latest murmur server compiled. Supposed to be very good, combines the best of the two in an open source and updated package.

TS3 isn't even feature complete. It's an alpha that they're calling a beta. No web admin. Someone asked in the forums about how to run the server on a different port (so they could install it beside their existing TS2 install) and they were referred to a reseller for a licensed copy.

Not impressing me so far. It has inspired me to get the latest Mumble server installed. It runs, but I still need to configure. If you want to give this a shot when I finish getting it configured, go grab the latest client

Windows http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/mumble/Mumble/1.2.0/Mumble-1.2.0.exe?use_mirror=cdnetworks-us-1
OSX  http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/mumble/Mumble/1.2.0/Mumble-1.2.0.dmg?use_mirror=cdnetworks-us-1

I think the mumble developers are laughing at the TS folks. From everything I've read it was already a better system. And it's in active development. They rolled out the latest and greatest version with even tighter security controls on Dec 10th, one of the dates TS3 was promised.. :)

Just downloaded the client.  Let me know if you get a server up.

Get the client and hop on gang.  Saib has it up and running.  Sound is outstanding.  No lag/delay.  I think this is the way to go.
