I think you can use MSN to chat with YIM also now.  Wondered why I never saw you on anymore.  I also have MSN but use Yahoo more.
Don't think it's going to work well with 512Meg.  Mine was too jerky with 1G but is fine with 1.5G.  You will have to have everything set to minimum at 512 and probably no higher than 800x600 res.
